What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxJacksonville, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxJacksonville event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
We invite you to join us at Sun-Ray Cinema on Wednesday, March 18th, for a live simulcast viewing of the TED2015 Conference from Vancouver. It’s your chance to get a sneak preview of the TED Talks everyone will be talking about!
We will show selected sessions from this year’s TED conference, themed Truth and Dare, which “will seek to challenge and reshape our core beliefs about today’s reality. And at the same time celebrate the thinkers, dreamers and mavericks who offer bold new alternatives.”
Session 1: What Are We Thinking?
6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Session 2: Life Stories
7:50 p.m. – 9:20 p.m.
TEDxJacksonville is able to offer free admission to this event because of Sun-Ray Cinema’s wonderfully supportive partnership. Sun-Ray has graciously offered use of the theater at no charge. We hope you’ll help us thank them for their hospitality by purchasing dinner and a cold beverage from their delicious menu.
* We highly recommend registering and arriving early to increase the likelihood of being seated. Because seats are limited for this free event and we have experienced no shows in the past, we cannot guarantee a seat. Registration expires 10 minutes before the first session begins. Unclaimed reservations will be given to walk-up guests in order to fill the theatre before the session begins. Please plan to arrive early to check-in, grab food and secure your seat.
