Ashlea was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. She attended Louisiana State University and earned degrees in Spanish and Psychology. In Baton Rouge, Ashlea spent time as a suicide prevention and crisis counselor and a United Way 2-1-1 information and referral specialist helping to provide coping mechanisms for individual’s everyday life as well as during hurricane relief and recovery.
While at LSU, Ashlea also earned a paralegal certification and worked as a paralegal for two years where she developed a love for the law. Ashlea moved to Jacksonville in 2012 and attended Florida Coastal School of Law. During law school, Ashlea was offered an internship at the Headquarters Board of Appeal of the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, which opened her eyes to legal issues on an international scale.
Ashlea now practices law in Jacksonville at Akerman LLP focusing her practice on labor and employment and commercial litigation. Ashlea is a board member of the Jacksonville Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and is a Fourth Circuit Representative on the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors. Ashlea has had the pleasure of getting to know the Jacksonville community while volunteering with the TEDxJacksonville engagement team for the last four years.
